 정몽준 한 엉성한 친목단체 수준

정몽준 최고위원이 30일 ‘4.29 재보선’ 패배를 놓고 “정당은 교과서를 보면 정치적 결사체라고 했는데 한나라당은 관료집단도 아니고 엉성한 친목단체 수준이라는 비판을 받는다”고 일침을 놨다. 

정 최고위원은 여의도 당사에서 열린 최고위원회의에서 “이번 선거 실패의 원인을 찾고 국민 기대에 부응하는 정당으로 다시 태어나기 위해 반성에서 출발해야 한다”며 이 같이 말했다.

그는 선거 초반 박희태 대표를 비롯한 당 지도부가 인천 부평을 지원유세를 갔음에도 불구하고 길거리에 청중이 없던 점을 거론하며 “명색이 지도부가 갔는데 당원으로부터 사랑과 존경을 받지 못하고, 최소한의 영과 권위도 서지 않은 것 같다”고 불만을 토로했다.

그러면서 “지도부가 전부 사퇴하자고 하면 무책임하다고 할 것이고 그렇다고 대안이 없다고 하면 더욱 심각하다”며 “이는 당이 무기력하고 스스로 개혁할 능력이 없다는 얘기로 이 게 최악의 상태”라고 지적했다. 

그는 “차분하지만 진지하게 대안을 모색해야 한다”며 “정치는 끝도 시작도 없다는 말처럼 이제 매일매일 선거라는 생각으로 열심히 노력해 다시 국민의 기대에 부응하는 정당으로 태어나야 한다”고 촉구했다. 

앞서 정 최고위원은 지난 2월에도 쟁점법안 처리가 지연되자 “한나라당에 영혼이 있는지 의문”이라며 쓴소리를 한 바 있다.
