크리스마스 럭키문38년 만에 찾아오고 19년 후에나 만나 볼 수 있어
크리스마스에 뜨는 보름달 '럭키문'이 화제다.

[박영우 기자=푸른한국닷컴]다가오는 2015년 크리스마스의 특별한 선물은 보름달,'럭키문(lucky moon)'이다.
‘럭키문’은 동양에서 소원을 빌 때 상징처럼 등장하는 보름달과 서양 최대 명절인 크리스마스가 만나 탄생한 크리스마스 보름달를 지칭한다.
럭키문은 일정한 주기를 반복하기 때문에 특별한 의미를 지니고 있다. 럭키문의 주기는 정확대략 19년이지만, 윤년의 영향으로 세 번에 한 번씩은 38년 만에 주기가 돌아오게 된다.
이번 크리스마스에 뜨는 럭키문은 바로 지난 1977년 이후 무려 38년 만에 뜨는 것으로, 다음 럭키문은 앞으로 19년 후인 2034년에나 만나볼 수 있는 것으로 알려졌다.
보름달은 동양에서도 '풍요의 상징'으로 곡식과 열매가 가득한 ‘풍년’을 의미하며 한 해의 농사가 마무리되는 시기이자 민족 최대의 명절인 추석이 되면 보름달을 바라보며 다음 해의 풍년을 기원하기도 했다.
크리스마스 역시 서양 최대의 명절로 예수 그리스도의 탄생을 기념하는 날로 가족과 친지들이 모여서 파티를 열고 선물을 주고 받으며 산타클로스에게 소원을 빌기도 한다.
