존 케리 “한미는 북한의 어떤 위협에도 확고히 단합”
현영철 숙청 관련 "북한은 가장 존엄성 없는 나라"

지난해 2월 이후 약 1년 3개월 만에 방한한 존 케리 미국 국무부 장관이 북한의 잠수함 발사 탄도미사일, SLBM 시험에 대해 "매우 도발적인 행동이며 유엔과 국제기준 위반"이라면서, “한미는 북한의 어떤 위협에도 맞설 단호함에 확고히 단합돼 있다”고 밝혔다.
케리 장관은 18일 윤병세 외교부 장관과 한미 외교장관 회담을 마친 뒤 열린 공동 기자회견에서 이같이 밝혔다.
케리 장관은 또 최근 현영철 북한 인민부력부장의 공개 처형과 관련해 북한을 "가장 존엄성 없는 나라"라고 평했다.
케리 장관은 한미동맹에 대해 "다양한 이슈에서 협력하는 강력한 동맹"이라며, "한미원자력협정, 전시작전통제권에서의 지속적 협력 등 많은 업적을 이뤘다. 폭력적 극단주의와 시리아, 에볼라에 대한 대응 등 세계적인 도전에 대해 협력하고 있다"고 밝혔다.
또 "북한 지도부는 6자회담 등 핵 프로그램 협상에 진정성을 보일 것"을 요구하면서 압력을 가중시켜 북한 행동을 변화시켜야 한다고 덧붙였다.(konas)
