 단독 신은미 책 문체부 우수도서에서 빠졌다
 ‘종북 논란’을 빚고 있는 재미교포 신은미(54)씨의 책 ‘재미동포 아줌마 북한을 가다’(네잎클로버)가 문화체육관광부의 ‘우수 문학 도서’에서 해제된다.

문체부 고위 관계자는 7일 “우수 도서 선정을 맡은 민간단체 책읽는사회문화재단이 해당 책의 우수 도서 선정을 해제하기로 결정하고 오늘 그 내용을 발표할 것”이라며 “책읽는사회문화재단이 지난해 12월 초부터 ‘신씨 책의 우수 도서 선정에 문제가 있다’는 것을 인정하고 자체적으로 선정 철회를 추진했다”고 밝혔다.

신씨의 책은 2013년 상반기 각 출판사가 수필 분야 우수도서로 신청한 136종 가운데 예심과 본심을 거쳐 이해 6월 선정된 19종 중 하나였다. 이 사업은 문체부와 한국문화예술위원회의 지원 사업이었다.

그러나 이 책은 ‘북한에선 병역이 의무가 아니다’ ‘탈북하다 잡혀도 처벌이 너무 가볍다’ ‘북한 정권과 주민은 별개가 아니라 하나였다’고 쓰는 등 “북한 주민의 고통은 외면하고 정권만 미화했다”는 비판을 받았다. 문체부 또한 “민간단체에 위탁해 선정된 것을 그대로 시행했을 뿐 최소한의 거르는 장치조차 없었다”는 비판을 받았다. 최근 종북 성향의 토크 콘서트로 물의를 빚은 신씨는 “책에 썼던 내용을 반복한 것일 뿐”이라고 주장했다.
