솔로몬제도 80 강진…쓰나미 경보

[쿠키 지구촌] 남태평양 솔로몬제도 인근에서 5일 새벽 1시12분(한국시간 오전 10시12분)쯤 규모 8.0의 강진이 발생했다고 미국지질조사국(USGS)이 이날 밝혔다.
진앙지는 솔로몬제도 산타크루즈 섬 라타에서 서쪽으로 81㎞ 떨어진 곳으로, 깊이 5.8㎞ 지점이다.
태평양 쓰나미 경보 센터는 지진 여파로 진앙지 근처에 엄청난 쓰나미가 발생할 수 있다고 경고했다.
호주, 뉴질랜드, 인도네시아, 괌 등은 물론 멀리 하와이까지도 쓰나미 주의보가 내려졌다.
지진이 발생한 뒤 6.4와 6.6 규모의 여진이 기록됐다.
