세계적으로 사랑을 받은 캐릭터 '헬로키티' 성형수술 소식이 전해졌다.
[전재우 기자=푸른한국닷컴]지난달 30일 일본 아사히 신문은 헬로키티의 디자인 업체인 '산리오'는 올해 일본-스페인 교류 400주년을 맞아 헬로키티의 기존 이미지를 과감히 벗고 새로 디자인했다고 보도했다.
새로운 헬로키티는 눈·코·입 뿐만 아니라 색깔까지 바뀌었다. 눈에 흰자위가 생기고 심지어 눈이 좌우 비대칭인 것이 인상적이다.
'헬로키티'의 성형수술을 집도한 디자이너는 하비에르 마리스칼로 지난 1992년 바르셀로나 올림픽 마스코트 ‘코비’ 제작했다.
그는 일본-스페인 교류 400주년을 기념해 산리오로부터 이번 캐릭터 제작을 의뢰받았다.
산리오측는 헬로키티 제작을 의뢰 시 "헬로키티를 도화지로 생각하고 마음대로 그려달라"고 부탁했다며 내년부터 관련 상품 개발을 통해 소비자들에게 선보일 계획이다.
