 강기갑 대표사퇴ㆍ탈당…정계 은퇴
 분당 방지 노력 허사..“고향의 품으로 돌아가겠다”

통합진보당 강기갑 대표는 10일 “분당을 막기 위해 혼신의 힘을 다했지만 그 모든 것이 허사가 되고 말았다”며 당 대표직 사퇴 및 탈당, 정계은퇴를 선언했다.
 

강 대표는 이날 국회에서 기자회견을 열어 “당을 수습하지도 못하고 분당을 막아내지도 못한 결과를 안고 이 자리에 섰다”며 이같이 밝혔다.
 

그는 명심보감에 나오는 ‘행유부득 반구제기(行有不得 反求諸己, 행하다 목표를 달성하지 못했으면 모든 문제를 자신에게서 찾으라)’ 구절을 차용해 ‘구당부득 반구제기’의 책임을 통감하며 대표직을 사퇴한다고 말했다.
 

이어 “모두가 제 탓으로 모든 것이 지나간 지금 그동안 당원동지들과 함께했던 행복한 지난날을 기억하며 이제 민주노동당에 이어져 온 통합진보당의 당적을 내려놓겠다”며 “나는 정치 일선에서 물러나야 하고 동지들이 가는 길에 함께 하지 못함을 통감한다. 참으로 면목없다”고 밝혔다.
 

또 “진보정당 역사에 죄인이 된 저는 속죄와 보속의 길을 가고자 한다”며 “저는 이제 흙과 가족이 간절히 기다리고 있는 고향의 품으로 돌아간다”고 정계 은퇴를 선언했다.
 

그러면서 그는 “나가는 쪽도 남는 쪽도 이제부터라도 서로에 대한 대립과 반목을 내려놓아야 한다”며 “국민 대중의 기본적 상식의 범주 안에서 선의의 경쟁을 통해 검증받고 성장해 언젠가 진보의 역사 속에 다시 만날 것을 기약하자”고 말했다.
